The New York Times is seeking a HR Administrator based in London to support the HR team and NYT employees. Reporting to the Director, Human Resources Business Partner (HR BP), this role will work alongside the HR Business Partners in London and Paris and be responsible for providing administrative support on all people related matters. The HR team will work closely together to build organisational capabilities, behaviours, and structures that support an evolving, digital first strategy.

 

The ideal candidate for this role will have a keen eye for detail, be solutions oriented and always eager to find and suggest new approaches to make the day-to-day HR processes more streamlined and efficient. What You’ll Do:

  • Workday administration (HR Information System); name changes, address changes, promotions, salary changes, and leavers.

  • Work with HR business partners and HRIS experts to document report requirements, design and deliver Workday reports using Workday’s report writing tools.

  • Use Workday to determine methods to a) integrate data from multiple systems and b) produce reports.

  • Serve as an active member of the HR team, supporting international HR projects, influencing and challenging colleagues.

  • Provide recruitment support to the HR team in regard to advertising, shortlisting candidates and arranging interviews.

  • Provide support on the administration of benefit plans and providers (including, but not limited to, pensions, season tickets, cycle to work, health insurance etc.).

  • Assist with administration related to training and development needs identified by the business.

  • Act as a trusted and credible HR partner who anticipates needs, proactively recommends solutions and is capable of handling confidential information appropriately.

  • Gain a deep understanding of how the newsroom and business works.

  • Support the diversity, equity and inclusion strategy of The New York Times.

  • Liaise with the wider HR department to deliver services and programs that meet business needs.

  • Develop and use actionable people metrics to provide insights that help drive business decisions.
     

What we’re looking for:

  • An interest in pursuing a career in HR.

  • Previous experience working in an administrative role. Confident using the Microsoft suite (word, excel, powerpoint).

  • Previous experience with Workday (preferred) or exceptional aptitude for IT systems and programmes.

  • Previous experience working within the G-suite is a bonus, in particular, the use of Airtable!

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent preferred.

  • Experience of working for an International company is preferred.

  • Ability to build cross-boundary relationships. Able to gain the trust and support of colleagues and can work effectively at all levels in the organisation.

  • Ability to organise and track quantitative data, analyse and identify trends, and provide actionable recommendations based on data analysis.

  • Previous experience in an administrative role managing a heavy workload and conflicting priorities from a number of stakeholders, as well as meeting deadlines.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills are required, as well as numerate with good excel skills.

  • High attention to detail, experience of working in a role where they have had to successfully manage priorities.
