Who is in our team?

Our team is a highly motivated development group, working on the global delivery of trading applications. We are a highly collaborative, fast-moving bunch, operating with a DevOps mindset. More importantly we enjoy what we do and have fun doing it. Our developers work closely with our Data Science teams to deploy Machine Learning models at scale across our business. To do this we are building reusable componentry to cover all manner of requests that empower our users to deploy and test innovative solutions as quickly as possible in real world scenarios. We use the best tool for the job and are not constrained by language choice (Java, Scala, C# and python are all in use) and our preference is to host on the cloud as it gives us the gives us access to the power that we need to run our applications.
We love streaming and our default is real-time processing. This does bring it's challenges, but we don't shy away from a problem because it's hard. If we can do it the right way, we will.

What can I expect from the role?

As a member of the team, you will influence, our overall strategy by defining product features, designing system architecture, promoting best practices, and developing quality product. This is a team where you will get a big opportunity to build products that have a big impact on our global customer base and the business.


We are looking for a results-oriented, innovative Software Development Engineer who will work closely with users, product managers and peer developers from other teams to design, build and deploy applications using a host of languages. If you're excited about cloud computing, AI/ML and want to work on and learn more about combining these with streaming technologies such as Kafka and Flink, then we'd love to talk with you.

 

What are the key responsibilities?

  • Deliver high quality product
  • Learn from others and help grow those in your team to achieve their best
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Be responsible for a service in production and carry out production triage
  • A testing/quality approach - unit, system/integration and end-to-end testing, TDD, feature toggles, canary deployments

 

What sort of Qualifications and Experiences are needed for this role?

  • Experience developing software using at least one modern object-oriented language. At least 1 of these should involve: designing and developing large-scale, distributed software applications, tools, systems and services.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys the challenge of highly complex business processes and making highly complex technology simple,
  • Have worked with data stores, both SQL and NoSQL
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.

What are the nice to haves?

  • Experience with streaming applications using Apache Kafka
  • Using Python with Machine learning
  • Proficiency in working with Apache Flink (or a similar real-time stream processing framework like Spark Streaming)
  • Experience of containerisation (Docker), orchestration (Kubernetes) and deployment to AWS (ECS, EKS, CDK, CloudFormation)
  • Experience working with Microservices
  • Experience working with an observability tool such as Grafana
  • An interest in sports, sports betting and gaming
