In this role you will be in charge of supervising a variety of accounting activities to ensure that the financial resources are managed in accordance with accounting principles and comply with all relevant regulations, laws, and standards. These activities may include accounts payable and receivable, general ledger maintenance, financial analysis and reporting, budgeting, revenue, and asset accounting.

It will be a very big plus if you can bring experience in developing projects or sites from square one.


As Accountant, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Proactive management and processing of all payroll, labor hours and headcount related activities for the site including FP&A activities related to Headcount and labor costs.

  • Complete relevant Revenue/CSO returns.

  • Ensure SAD post entry reviews are completed and assist with other Customs transactions as required.

  • Ensure month-end reporting is carried out efficiently and in line with agreed timetable.

  • Assist Controller in Plan/LBE preparation including but not limited to responsibility for population and submission of Balance sheet reports to corporate and data analysis of all areas v Prior year and Prior LBE.

  • Ensure all monthly reconciliations and journals are prepared and approved.

  • Develop a schedule for internal audits and oversee completion of same to ensure compliance with policies & procedures

  • Provide financial support to other departments to assist in goal achievements.

  • Carry out other assignments/projects as directed by the Controller.

  • Provide cover in absence of finance team members.

  • The job function will change where update procedures to GMP, EHS, Technical / New equipment, Quality procedures and SOP’s are made.

  • Management of fixed assets including but not limited to tracking, reporting, physical inventory and controlling.

  • Review RCEs and report on a monthly basis. Monitor as per budget.

  • Review, monitor and report Project Expense on a monthly basis.

  • Management of Engineering stores Physical Inventory process and conduct monthly checks on reconciliation to ensure transactions recorded correctly.

  • Ensure Environmental Health & Safety standards are met and all EHS regulations and procedures are adhered to.

  • Demonstrate accountability and responsibility for EHS performance and compliance through active participation and support of Abbott’s EHS Program.

  • Ensure to report any work-related injuries or illness to employee health and assist in the investigation.

  • Active participation and support of Abbott’s EHS programs and attend EHS training as assigned.


For this position it will be necessary to bring:

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.

  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills required.

  • Capacity to work alone to understand and summarise financial data into high quality, accurate and usable summaries.

  • Strong computer skills, especially MS Office.


QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Professional qualification or part qualification in accountancy or degree in accounting.

  • Excellent communication & interpersonal skills.

  • 1 to 2 years' experience in the manufacturing industry.
